How does this photo make you feel? What would you do if your back was to the wall? Do you have the tools to make it through? This is obviously a training evolution, but if you could go inside the mask and put yourself in the scenario, consider what may be going through your mind while your back is against the wall.

I talk about self confidence issues on this site as well as my ABLE-Confidence site quite frequently. Next to personal safety, I have no other mission other than to develop confidence in my clients. So many victories are possible for people who are confident and step out there to achieve things that others only dream about.

One big tool in dealing with the challenges and setbacks in life is the ability to maintain your self control. Whether it be someone shouting in your face, arguing with you, or creating difficulty for you in life, how you react can be the “make or break” in any situation.

People are often surprised and unprepared when things pop up in life. I have dealt with a few life and death situations that were totally unscripted, unexpected, and demanded decisive action. My ability to cope with the unexpected, and extremely consequential has always been based on my confidence in my preparation. My self control is always under a microscope due to the nature of my job. The trick is to deal with what comes, and deal with it naturally. There isn’t a perfect fix available for every situation. Sometimes we have to improvise. Stretching out of our comfort zone and learning new things will build the self confidence to thrive in these situations.

The point here is simply this; Every step we take to prepare ourselves for the unexpected sets a building block in the foundation of our self confidence. The accumulation of this confidence creates a foundation for self control in even the most unexpected situations.

Our ability to control ourselves in near any situation can produce dividends in our lives. Whether it be a promotion at work, success in our educational pursuits, or, worst case scenario, surviving an emergency situation or violent attack.

I prepare people to deal with these challenges by teaching self defense. We tap their values, converting them to desires to keep them safe, then plan their success through training evolutions designed to increase capacity to succeed. One block at a time the foundation is put in place for increased self confidence.

If you can deal with the worst case scenario, as pictured above, what would that lend to the rest of your troubles? How much more self confidence and self control would you have when you are shoved out of your comfort zone?

Reach out and grow through addressing your fears and worries. Try a self defense class or two. See what value it may add to your life.
