Belief, the buck stops here…

We are where we believe we can be….

I guess that I used to think that more of my circumstance was dependent on the actions of others, rather than my own.  What a crock of crap.  I am responsible for being right here, right now.

While no man, or woman, is an island.  Yes, the acts of others do influence where we end up, but what we do from there is entirely up to us.

While we still have to have our mission statement and our attitude in the right place to move ahead, the cornerstone in our confidence to act is our belief in ourselves.

Looking Inward

Coming up in the aviation world, I faced a few run ins with my beliefs in myself, and in my abilities.  Where our dreams often die is where they meet the pressure check of our beliefs.

As a young man I wanted nothing more than to fly in the military.  I never chased the dream till it was a bit late.  Why?  Because I didn’t believe I could make it through the training, because I didn’t believe they would select me, because I didn’t believe I had what it took.

Regret is a filthy animal.  Living with it is like having a sharp stick wedged under a fingernail.

I can fly circles around many of those whose beliefs led them to their dreams.  Guess what, you can too.

What have you told yourself wasn’t possible?

Was that an accurate belief?

Was that your belief, or someone else’s?

Don’t do regret.  If your beliefs don’t empower you, get some new beliefs.  Life’s short, regret burns every minute.
